Hormone Imbalance: Important Things To Know About Hormones

1. How do hormones influence our psychological and physical health?

A wide variety of physiological processes are carried out by the endocrine system through chemical messengers called "hormones." The endocrine system is a collection of glands that produces these hormones, which are necessary for normal bodily functions. Adrenal fatigue and Thyroid imbalance are the most common problems for individuals with mood disorders, allergies, ADHD / ADD

2. How do I know if I Have Adrenal imbalance?

Symptoms of adrenal imbalance are stress and fatigue that is not alleviated with sleep, that is, the "tired all the time" feeling. Other common symptoms include sleep disturbances, anxiety, depression, increased susceptibility to infections, and reduced tolerance for stress, craving for sweets, allergies, chemical sensitivities and a tendency to feel cold. The adrenal glands secrete hormones that influence the body's metabolism, blood chemicals, and body characteristics, as well as influence the part of the nervous system that is involved in the response and defense against stress.

3. What is a function of the Adrenals?

Many people experience high levels of mental and emotional stress on a regular basis, which puts a significant strain on adrenal function. When stress is not well managed the ability of the adrenal glands to do their job becomes compromised. The adrenals normally secrete Cortisol in response to stress, with exercise and excitement, and in reaction to low blood sugar. The body normally secretes the highest amount of Cortisol in the morning to get us going, with levels decreasing throughout the day. People with adrenal imbalance will often have normal Cortisol levels in the morning with below normal levels at other times during the day. If stress remains too high for a prolonged period, the adrenals can't keep up with demand and total Cortisol output plummets leading to adrenal exhaustion.

4. How do I know if I Have Thyroid Dysfunction?

Your thyroid gland and hormones affect every single organ, gland, and cell in your body. When your thyroid is not functioning properly, you will experience a myriad of symptoms. These symptoms can mimic almost any disease. The thyroid gland secretes hormones, which regulate body metabolism, temperature, weight, energy, bone growth, and emotional balance. For example, those who suffer chronic infections and who are treated repeatedly with antibiotics are frequently immune-depressed due to a thyroid problem. Those who are treated with powerful, toxic, and addicting drugs for depression, anxiety, ADHD / ADD, and chronic fatigue may find the underlying cause of their problems in the thyroid.
